best neighbourhoods Javea - header

There are many beautiful coastal towns to be found on the Costa Blanca North and Javea is definitely one of them. Javea is a sophisticated coastal town, with several beaches with clear blue water and cosy boulevards with nice restaurants. Actually, Javea consists of three parts: the old centre (el pueblo), the port (el puerto) and the beach area at Arenal, all with their own characteristics. In this blog, we will elaborate on the neighbourhoods in Javea that are the most popular for buying a house.

What is there to do in Javea?

There is always a pleasant, informal holiday atmosphere in Javea (Xabia in Valencian), mainly frequented by people who enjoy the good life. Enjoyment is clearly central. As already mentioned, Javea has several beaches and bays, you can practice various water sports and you will find many cosy terraces where you can easily stay the whole afternoon, gazing at the azure blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

But Javea has much more to offer than just sun and sea. The historic old town centre has the feel of a typical Spanish village, with narrow cobbled streets and cosy squares. Moreover, there are a number of interesting buildings to admire, including the church of San Bartolomé or you can immerse yourself in culture, at the Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum Soler Blasco. As Javea is full of beautiful viewpoints and calas, there is also an officially compiled route that leads you along Javea’s most beautiful calas and viewpoints.

From Javea, you can also get to other beautiful coastal towns on the Costa Blanca North in no time, such as Denia or Moraira. Or, with an hour’s drive, visit a big city like Valencia or Alicante.

One of the ‘eye-catchers’ is of course the Montgo, also known as the Elephant Mountain, whose trunk runs into the sea.

Houses for sale in Javea

In Javea, you can choose from all kinds of houses, from flats with terraces close to the coast to villas with pools and sea views in a quieter area. In the old town, you will also find beautiful townhouses with patios. You will notice that instead of neighbourhoods in Javea, people also speak of ‘urbanisations’, in Spanish ‘urbanizaciones’.

A big plus point of Javea is that there are hardly any towering flats built. Especially along the coastline, you will most likely find apartments and semi-detached houses, but otherwise you have many urbanisations (neighbourhoods) with mainly detached villas. Each neighbourhood has its own character and plus points. Some are at walking distance from the beach, others have phenomenal sea views and others are again close to the golf course. In addition, Javea is also an area with lots of greenery, providing the necessary shelter and privacy.

In terms of building styles, you can go either way in Javea. You will find traditional Spanish-style villas, then often with the typical Tosca stone, which is quarried in Javea. You can also find beautiful modern or Ibiza-style new-build villas, as well as the more modern new-build projects. Moreover, Javea also has several good plots available, to build your own villa.
