Positive messages from Spain!

After more than a year after the start of the pandemic, everyone is done with it….., but the good news: we are ready again! 🙂 Our lives have been on hold for almost 1,5 years and we have all hoped and waited for better times. There was always a glimmer of hope, but then another wave came. Now we dare to say that it looks good and sunny. We can look ahead again and start planning fun things… and realize our sometimes long cherished dreams.

Facts and numbers

What is our positivity based on? Let’s take a look at some numbers and facts…

  • The numbers here in Spain have decreased after the peak after the holidays around Christmas and New Years.
  • The Valencia and Costa Blanca region even has the lowest infection rates in all of Spain with 38 infections of every 100,000 people.
  • Vaccination programs are well underway everywhere.
  • Also the restrictions being are reduced, with the most important point that the ‘Estado de Alarma’ (state of emergency) will probably be lifted as of the 9th of May.
  • From Belgium it is already possible to travel again because the travel ban for non-essential travel has expired as of the 19th of April.
  • Belgium has even given the state of Valencia (including the provinces of Valencia and Alicante) and the Balearic Islands (Ibiza and Mallorca) green, so no more quarantine obligation.
  • It is expected that the Netherlands will also adjust the travel advice within Europe for a number of countries (including Spain) from 3rd of May.

What is life like in Spain now?

From our head office in Valencia we give you an idea of what our daily life looks like. What is possible and what is not possible? Our office is open as usual. Since the strict lockdown at the beginning of last year, we have remained open from May and we have been able to help people – even now. This means we can prepare and supervise viewing programs as usual. We only ask people to move around in their own (rental) car.

What many people who come to Spain notice is the use of facemasks here in Spain. This is actually mandatory everywhere: so as soon as you go out on the street and also in shops, restaurants, etc., a facemask is mandatory. The exceptions are if you eat something in a restaurant or on a terrace and if you are sitting or lying by a pool or on the beach. Furthermore, there is currently a curfew from 10 p.m., but it is expected that this will be canceled when the state of emergency expires.

The good news is that the shops are open as usual and the restaurants and terraces are also open. From Monday 26th of April, the restaurants will even be open again until 10 p.m., so that is of course really enjoyable.

How is the real estate market in Spain

We regularly see and speak people who come to Spain with the idea that the real estate market in Spain is doing very badly, precisely because of the crisis. Unfortunately, we have to disappoint those who think they can make an offer far below the price. We see that it is slowly turning into a seller’s market. We notice that there is a scarcity (especially in the somewhat lower segment) of good homes for sale. The demand for a house in Spain has only increased, which means there is less supply in certain regions than you would wish. Here you can read even more about the development of the real estate market in Spain. For reassurance, we can say that we always try to get the best deal. So first look for the best house that meets your wishes and then purchase it at the best conditions and/or price. Feel free to ask us about the possibilities, we will be happy to advise you in the search and further planning.

Stay positive and stay healthy!

Here in Spain we are ready again and hopefully we will all be able to close this bizarre time and fully enjoy all the beautiful things life has to offer. In short, live your dream in Spain!
